Football Day Heaven - December 6, 2008

I know I'm behind on updating and finishing the LSU post but I thought since I have the pictures from this past weekend handy I would post about Saturday.

Our day started about Noon as we headed north to Troy to Lauren (Troy Head Majorette's) home for the Alabama Game. Lauren's family went with us to Baton Rouge and was very kind and invited me to tailgate indoors and watch the Alabama Florida Game. We are all huge Bama fans. I was raised being an Alabama fan and there was no other option. It gets in your blood and it is there forever. My brother, however, is a different story. Somehow he became a Florida State fan.....I can handle that at least it wasn't Auburn! Although, he married and Auburn fan who was raised in an Alabama household. LOL! Oh, well, I guess we can overlook that. I will give a shout out to Mr. Jackson who is an Auburn fan also.

We ate and had wonderful food. The Alabama game was great at that moment. The Troy game started at 6 P.M. although the faithful Alabama fans stayed behind to watch the ending Dot and Melita left to be at the Troy game when the band marched in.

Needless to say we didn't have the ending we would have liked for the Alabama Florida game but you win some and you lose some. We just didn't want to lose this game or season. Bama is going to the Sugar Bowl so we still have another game. I would like to say I saw an interview with Saban tonight and I felt for him. I wanted to cry. He said that he felt that with Alabama losing he failed the team and the guys in giving them what they wanted so much and he hates he couldn't give it to them. That really touched my heart.

Back to Troy my Alma Mater. We left to go to the Troy game. Troy beat Arkansas State for a spot in the RL Carrier's Bowl in New Orleans. Most of the group and some new friends will be joining us on this trip. It should be fun.

I posted pics from the game and our fun time. I promise to update again soon and post more pictures.

Troy Trojans Win 48-3

What a great game! The Troy University Trojans won against UL Lafayette 48 to 3. However, alittle cold but fun none the least. We all dressed in several layers from head to toe and still had our blankets. We came prepared to support the Trojans and enjoy the next to the last home game.

Troy has another home game on Saturday, December 6th. Let's all try our best to show up and support our Trojans as they compete for a chance to represent Troy in the Sunbelt Championship.

We have had the pleasure of sitting next to the father of Bear Woods the last couple of home games. It has been great meeting him and getting to know him and learn more about Bear. We have thoroughly enjoyed watching Bear play.

Troy LSU Game Volume 1

Good evening Trojan Fans. I promised an update but we had so much fun I can't get it all in one post. I will start with Day 1.

Day 1 started out early for me as I'm sure all Trojan fans leaving on Friday. The bus arrived in Headland at 10 A.M. (thirty minutes early) and in Dothan around 10:45 A.M. We left Dothan around 11:30 A.M. and headed toward Crestview for our last pick up. The ride down was so much fun. Troy University's Head Majorette's Mom Melita and her Grandmother Dot were on board the bus. We had a picture of the band along with lots of Troy items including everyone's favorite can huggies. Although some of us had our faithful "Troy State" huggies we still supported our team.

We stopped in Crestview for the last pick up. This gave some a chance for McDonalds and Subway while others made a last minute shopping trip for Pineapple Juice, Gloves, Ear Muffs, etc..... to keep us all warm for the game Saturday night.

Several played Phase 10, while others napped, talked, watched movies and had dreams of winning $13.6 million at the Casino that night.

We arrived in Biloxi at our hotel and we all got checked into our rooms. We split as some were hungry for food while others were hungry for gambling. We had some playing slots while others played craps and some even played Roulette.

I think the latest anyone stayed up was around 11:30 P.M. and that was me. My cousin Becky and her sister Robin drove down from Slidell to visit. That was a lot of fun watching them play craps and roulette. I have no clue as to how to play so I just watched.

I retired to the room around 11:30 and didn't see any other Trojan fans for the rest of the night. All of the Trojans fans fell asleep and had dreams of Trojan Sugar Plums dancing in their head. As their dreams played out the Mighty Trojans danced across the goal line in "Death Valley" to show LSU Tigers that Troy University Trojans are Mighty Warriors and are a force to be reckoned with.

Dreams continued through the night.

Volume 2 to come.

Good night Trojans! We love you ALL!!!!

Troy Win and a Very Special Occassion

Hello Trojan Fans. It was a beautiful day this past Saturday to be back in Troy and see the Trojans win! We had a great time tailgating and visiting with fellow Trojan fans and making new friends. It was so nice visiting with everyone and the weather was great to hanging out.

Saturday was a very special day for one of our Trojan fans. Mrs. Clark who is the grandmother of Head Majorette Lauren Smith celebrated her 75th birthday at the Troy game. It was a grand time as children, grandchildren and one great grandchild were able to attend. Happy Birthday Ms. Clark!

I would like to remind everyone that Homecoming will be November 8th and then the much anticipated Troy vs. LSU game will be held on November 15th in Baton Rouge. I still have available seats on the bus if anyone would like to join us. I'm looking for additional tickets also if you know of someone that may have extra tickets.

As for the shirts, I hope they will be ran next week. Please let me know if you would like me to order you one and the size. Shirts will be $10.80 including the tax.

I have posted a few pictures from this weekend. Enjoy. I hope to see everyone at Homecoming!

Let's Move Forward to Florida Atlantic

Not the outcome we expected or wanted but let's look at our next game on October 7th against Florida Atlantic. The Trojans have two weeks to practice and we all should look forward to the game and a win. Let's pull for our Trojans to bring in a win.

Our LSU plans are still set as before. The bus will leave on Friday (time TBA) and we will spend the night at the Palace in Biloxi. The bus will take us to Baton Rouge on Saturday a few hours before the game. Just in case you haven't heard, LSU postponed their Homecoming until November 15th. It will be a very exciting weekend for everyone. I'm looking forward to it as I know you all are as well.

Tickets, Shirts & More

Hello Trojan Fans. Sorry for not posting sooner but it has been a busy week and I was somewhat upset after our Trojans got defeated Saturday by Ohio State.

Well, we are just 7 weeks away from the game of the year that we have all been waiting for. I'm packed and ready. Yes, that is true! I haven't unpacked from the first date except for a few items I use regularly. You know me......got to be organized....at least I'm trying to get back into my organized way since life has thrown me some curve balls and they have me completely out of sorts lately but everyday is better. I don't like being unorganized.

If you know of someone that has Troy LSU tickets they want to sell, please give them my email address or send me their contact information. I'm getting calls and emails from several folks wanting to go since the date has changed and I'm out of tickets. I knew I should have bought more. I think we are going to let those LSU Tigers know Troy is in town.

Also, for those who want t-shirts like the ones in the pictures - I'm having more shirts made in the next couple of weeks. The logo on the front will be smaller and on the left side of the shirt. The logo on the back will be the same. Since this is a special order I need to order in bulk. Please let me know if you would like one and the size you need. They will be $10.00 plus 9% sales tax. Once I have the order ready to place I will contact everyone about payment options.

Email me at troytailgating@gmail.com

First Home Game Fun

Hello Fellow Trojan Fans. What a way to kick-off the first home game with a complete blowout! Final Score - Troy 65 Alcorn State 0. For the 22,000 fans that were they - welcome to Troy Football! It was exciting to see everyone tailgating and getting excited. For those I didn't get to see for lack of time...I apologize. I will try to see to at the next home game if not before.

I've posted a couple of pictures from our tailgating yesterday. I'm the photographer so I'm not in any of the pics. That is the plan. LOL.

First Home Game - Troy vs. Alcorn State

Finally the first home game of the season. I hope everyone is ready for tailgating and a victory tonight. I have my stuff ready to go. I have made a wonderful Buffalo Chicken Dip that I tried out last weekend and it was great so we decided it would be good for this weekend.

I look forward to seeing everyone. I know there are quiet a few Trojan fans that can't join us today several from our tailgating family. Those who have gone to the wedding of a Trojan alumni - we will miss you today. Safe travels back home.

I also would like to give a special Trojan shout out to fellow media person and longtime friend - Allen Killebrew. We miss you Allen. We are praying for you to get well soon so you can join us at the games! Please keep Allen and his wife in your prayers.

Troy-LSU Game Postponed

The Troy/LSU Game scheduled for this Saturday has been postponed until November 15th due to Hurricane Gustav damages.

For our Trojan fans that were planning on making this trip with us this weekend, I have made arrangements for the bus and rooms for November 15th weekend. The rooms are booked for November 14th - depending on the game time. If they change the game time to earlier and we want to change our reservations we can. I will keep everyone updated on this. If anyone can't make it that weekend that had planned to join us this weekend, please let me know as soon as possible.

Also, if you happen to know someone that would like to join us for the new date have them contact me as I reserved the bigger bus so I do have some openings.

I was very disappointed as was all Trojan fans. I was ready for a getaway this weekend! I do completely understand. You can go to the LSU website and see some of the destruction and damage from Gustav. Please keep everyone who has been affected by the storm in your prayers.

I will be at Troy's first home game on September 13th. I will be posting later about our tailgating plans if you would like to join us.

Email address for this site is troytailgating@gmail.com
